IBS Demountable Flood Protection system

Successive structural illustration of a movable flood-defence wall In Cologne, Germany

IBS movable flood-defence walls save lives and protect cities, towns and industrial facilities all over the world. And they do so without major alteration of the landscape. IBS movable flood-defence walls combine optimum protection against flood risk with maximum preservation of attractive riverside properties.

Our flood-defence wall systems consist of just a few key components. The most important of these are the central supports, installed at regular intervals to cope with possible flooding; along with the stoplogs. These are stacked between the central supports until the desired barrier height is reached.

These two main components require a further two items to make the defence wall ready for use: screw-in elements and clamping technology. Despite the apparent simplicity of this structure, the planning and implementation of such projects requires more than just a few stoplogs and central supports.

Every one of our four-thousand-plus flood defence projects to date has involved intensive planning, static calculations, structural installation drawings and precision engineering of individual components. And this is precisely where the strength of IBS lies. No other company is as personally committed as IBS to the niche sector of movable flood-defences. With its team of sales engineers and designers, an in-house statics department and certified specialists, IBS deals with the entire project from planning stage to final installation.

If you would like to gain an impression of the professional performance of IBS and get to know more about the planning and functioning of our flood-defence systems, please take a moment to view our video about a flood-defence project carried out in the Austrian market town of Grein. The barrier has a maximum height of 4.6 m, which proved to be vital in the "flood of the century" of the year 2013.
